What is DY?
In a nutshell, the Discipleship Year is about growing as disciples of Jesus, learning how to serve Him and His Kingdom with the whole of your life, for the whole of your life. It will take you on a life-changing journey of discovery and adventure, where you’ll be inspired, get practical Kingdom experience, make life-long friendships, and have a lot of fun in the process!
Who is it for?
The Discipleship Year is for ANYONE aged 18-24 looking to:
- Grow confidence in who God has made you to be
- Discover the purpose He has for your life
- Get involved by serving in a local church
- Discover, exercise and nurture your spiritual gifts and passions
- Be challenged to step out, risk and see God work through you
- Experience the adventure of overseas mission
Where is it based?
The training will take place at St Mary's Longfleet, Poole, which is the DY Hub for the area. We are one of the placement Churches where you can get stuck into the ministry area that interests you. You can find out a bit more about our Church HERE!
We are also delighted to be working with our partner placement churches and organisations:
How long is it for?
The year runs from Monday 5th September 2022 until Sunday 23rd July 2023.
What are we looking for?
At Christ Church Creekmoor we're looking for committed followers of Jesus, aged between 18-24 in September, looking to develop themselves personally, impact the local community and invest in the lives of others. It doesn't matter if you've been a Christian for 1 week or the whole of your life! All that does matter is that you love Jesus and want to love Him more!
What will it look like?
Each week is broken down in to 8 hours of teaching, and 12-16 hours of serving in your chosen ministry area, this may include Sundays.

Operations
The rest of the time is there for you to be able to find paid employment alongside the Discipleship Year. Throughout the year we will spend time together worshipping, praying, listening, laughing and learning. As we go through the year there will be retreat days, residential weekends and plenty of opportunity to get stuck in and serve in the Church.
What will we look at?
The DY curriculum is made up of three modules:
The Autumn Term - Building strong foundations as a follower of Jesus
Developing our secret life with God
Becoming more secure in our identity
The Spring Term - The Kingdom of God and Mission
Discovering what the Kingdom of God is
Understanding the Bible, Jesus and Mission
Evangelism
The Summer Term - Calling and Leadership
Aims to prepare you for a life lived for Jesus and his Kingdom following the Discipleship Year
How much does it cost?
The Discipleship Year costs £1,000 which covers all of your teaching, training and resources, including two national Discipleship Year weekends away (October and January). We don't want the financial side to be a barrier so if this will be difficult for you, or should you want to discuss a financial arrangement, please get in touch with us below and we can have a further conversation.
